Academic Support Strategist & Mediator

Formerly known as Ombudsperson, I offer various services meant to support students when they encounter problems and concerns at Algoma University. In this supportive position, I help students who might otherwise fall through the cracks. I can offer assistance with issues such as:

  • Academic Appeals / Social Programs
  • AlgomaU Assistance
  • OSAP     
  • Policies
  • Support     
  • General Help
  • Complaints / Student Issues    
  • Recommendations

AUSU Food Pantry

The Algoma University Students’ Union Food Pantry is here to help for your emergency food security needs and works in consultation with the student body to address food insecurity issues. 

Hours for the Winter 2022 Semester will be as follow: 
Monday and Wednesday from 2pm to 7pm

PLEASE NOTE: The Food Pantry will remain closed during the study week. 21 February 2022 – 27th February 2022  and reopen on Monday February 28th 2022.

Food Pantry is currently operating via curbside pickup to ensure the safety of our students and community members. Please make note of the following:

  • Please use the online calendar to book an appointment. List any allergies, dietary needs, and requests. 
  • When you arrive to your appointment, wait outside of the Pantry door in Shingwauk Hall (former Globe doors). No students are allowed inside the Pantry at this time.
  • Only one student is permitted to come to the appointment and masks must be worn.
  • Items will be arranged prior to your arrival and given out at the door. Please arrive on time to your appointment and share your name so you get the correct package of food.
  • Bring your own bags to the appointment

The Food Pantry will do its best to meet your requests but is not be able to guarantee exact items. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to seeing you! If you have any further questions please email ausufood.pantry@ausu.algomau.ca

The Sentient

The Sentient is the student newspaper at Algoma University that covers opinion pieces, community news, politics, editorials, and many other topics. Assisting with the newspaper will allow you to gain valuable experience in journalism and media studies and is an excellent opportunity to get involved in the Algoma University community! Now, more than ever, there is a need for meaningful discussions to be taking place, and Algoma U students can be a part of getting those discussions started or continuing ongoing ones.

(AURA) Algoma University Radio Association

Our team at the Algoma University Radio (AURA) is so excited to bring to you new and engaging content this upcoming year. To access the AURA, search The AURA Pod on YouTube / Spotify / Apple podcasts and you will find our radio station and its entire collection of episodes. We have also made the transition to recording our show live so that you can be even more involved with the program both through audio and video.
