If they offer this service they will submit the claim to the insurance on your behalf. Alternatively, you may submit a manual claim on your own through the Medavie Blue Cross Web Portal or using the Medavie Blue Cross App should you ever have to pay for any expenses out of pocket. Just remember to save your receipts as proof of payment.

The Blue Cross Medavie App is available for free in the Google Playstore and the Apple App Store. Once you have registered, just follow these steps:

  • Click Submit a Claim
  • Choose the category that best describes the expense type
  • Answer the questions regarding whether it was a result of an accident and whether you have another active insurance plan
  • Upload or take a photo of your receipt from your medical visit
  • Register for direct deposit and then click “submit claim”

Sign up for direct deposit to reduce the processing time for your claim to 2-5 days.

Remember to keep your mailing address up to date in the studentvip portal, or insurance payments will default to the AUSU Office on the Algoma U Sault Ste Marie Campus and can take several weeks for you to receive it providing that we can identify who the payment belongs to.
